ATUNBI @ Oshodi
“Where and How you were born is not as important as WHY you were born.”
This was the basis of my conversation with the Teenagers who attended my session today @ Abolore Sobayo Art Foundation known as ‘Jelosimi’ located in Oshodi , Lagos Nigeria.
I shared my journey of being born in the slum area of mushin in Nigeria over 3 decades ago and what growing up was for me.
These young boys and girls were inspired by my journey as they watched me speak on Voice of America and Aljazeera on the relevant of Arts in Medicine in Nigeria’s healthcare system.
At the end my session , i conducted a short test and two teens emerged as winners . I autographed two copies of my book ‘ATUNBI’ and gifted them. It was an unforgettable moment for them ✊🏿😘🎉💃🏾⭐️🖤💫 🕺
I’m so proud of my by bother and friend , Abolore Sobayo for giving back to the community where he was born. He is doing an incredible work through his new art center in a community plagued with violence, robbery, hooliganism, teenage pregnancy, Internet fraud among many other vices that is prevalent in Oshodi.
