Muslim student escapes death after LGBT comment
A Muslim student escaped death by the skin of his teeth after his liberal views on the rights of gays and lesbians in Ghana.
The victim – Seiku Diakite – the overall best student of the graduation class of 2016 at the Islamic University College, Ghana, was attacked for being a gay after granting an interview with the media and his sexual intimacy photos reportedly leaked to the Chief Imam of the Muslim community of Ghana, Dr. Nuhu Sheikh Sharabutu.
The attack, which is becoming rampant on Muslim students supporting gay rights, was reported to have occurred in the full glare of the public after the Muslim prayers (Jummah).
Seiku was said to have been trapped by a friend who asked that they join other friends to have lunch somewhere in Madina in Accra. However, he was attacked, blinded and hands tied with rope as the vehicle on which they were driving sped off.
Suspecting foul play, he tried fighting them until they came to a traffic stop which attracted a scene.
“I was then quickly pushed out as the vehicle drove off, even though the red light was on,” Seiku recalled.
Luckily, he did not sustain any serious injuries.
