Commercial Transport operators will be soon drag to court – GPRTU CHAIRMAN WARNS.  The Ghana private Road Transport union chairman in the kumasi metropolis at sofoline bus terminal in the Ashanti region has lamented that, 23 illegal transport union operating illegally is the main reasons why road accidents are still occurring in the country.

He lamented in an interview with the press that, these 23 unions are illegally operating in Ashanti region and the body that regulates them are

However, the above mentioned should come out with the number of transport union that are legally in the region so that when there’s a catastrophe on the roads, we will know which union the vehicle belongs to

He said that, DVLA Boss failed to estimate the number of transport operators in kumasi.

When accident occurs , commuters jump into conclusion and blame driver and these non accredited transport operators are the main reasons why road accidents can’t end.

He said that, all illegal commercial transport operators will be drag to court soon for failure to meet the L.I 2180 2012 regulation 1/2/1 claus 3 .

The Road Traffic Regulations2012 (L.I. 2180)

Regulations 128 (1), (2) and (3) of the Legislative Instrument 2180 prohibits the use of motorcycles or tricycles for commercial purposes. Regulation 128 (1) of LI 2180 states that the “Licensing Authority shall not register a motorcycle to carry a fare-paying passenger.”
