James Kwesi Appiah, 60, former coach of the Black stars, a very good coach. He was once a player, he was the left back player. Kwesi Appiah played for Asante kotoko 1983 and 1993, he also played in the Ghana National team 1987 and 1992. Three (3) appearances in FIFA World Cup, he describe himself as the “underdog ”.
Moreover, Appiah had a technical training outside Ghana, from the English clubs ,Manchester City and Liverpool as a coach. He was chosen as the assistant coach in 2007-2012.He coached the U23 players, where they won 2011 Africa Games. His usual formation in all matches is 4-3-2-1, that has been the formation he use in most of his matches.
On account of the progressive of the Ghana National Team, he was therefore appointed as the Head coach in 2012. Kwesi Appiah led the team to qualify for 2014 world cup ,Brazil. He also coach outside the country, Al Khartoum, Sudanese club in December 2014. Kwesi Appiah was replaced to take over the team, after the former Chelsea manager Avam Grant left.
However, all the good job Kwesi Appiah did for this national team, he left. Now he has made up his mind ,he won’t have interest in football nor coaching. He is now focusing on other matters. He doesn’t want to partake in any football relationship. Although football has been part of him for years now , now he has set his mind free from football, concentrating on other stuffs.
“Now I am not interested in football, my concentration is on other things, although I don’t know what will happen in the future
“But I don’t want to know anything about football,” he said in interview with Wontumi FM.
