Unexpectedly, the Princess of Wales graced the Eurovision stage with a piano performance during the opening act. Dressed in a stunning blue Jenny Packham gown and donning the late Queen’s earrings, the Princess played a beautiful instrumental piece that had been recorded earlier this month in the Crimson Drawing Room of Windsor Castle.
The 10-second clip featured in a performance by last year’s winners, Kalush Orchestra, alongside other notable contributors such as Lord Lloyd-Webber, Sam Ryder, Ms Banks, Ballet Black, Bolt Strings, and Joss Stone.
The opening film of Eurovision showcased Kalush Orchestra’s performance of their winning entry, Stefania, from the Maidan Nezalezhnosti metro station in Kyiv.
Interestingly, the Princess has demonstrated her musical talent in the past. She holds a grade three piano and grade five theory and previously accompanied pop star Tom Walker on the piano during a 2021 carol service that she hosted at Westminster Abbey.
The service, which was broadcast on ITV on Christmas Eve, paid tribute to the heroic efforts of inspiring individuals who served their communities during the pandemic.
