Dr. Kunle Adeyemi is more than a mentor to me. He is my daddy ❤️😘🕺✊🏿🌟🙌🏾👑
I met Dr. Kunle Adeyemi shortly after my graduation from AuchiPoly in 2005 to do my one year Industrial attachment in his studio. That should be around 2006. I later reconnected with him in 2008 during my short semester break in OAU.
Ever since then, he has been a great mentor to me. Dr. Kunle Adeyemi played a key role in my leadership journey in establishing Tender Arts Nigeria , the first organization I founded in 2013. He later became one of our revered board members in Arts in Medicine Projects. He has been a great support and pillar in our successes over the years.
Apart from being one of the great Nigerian contemporary artists, former Dean, School of Arts and Design, Yaba College of Technology, Dr. Kunle Adeyemi is also a man of faith. I’m inspired by his sense of humour , meekness, humility, life of service and his visionary lifestyle.
Passing through the Kunle Adeyemi Studio at Mushin gave me the opportunity to make lifelong friends and build relationships that has contributed significantly to my visual artist practice in Nigeria and across the globe.
I’m honoured to fellowship with him earlier today and also presented an autographed copy of my book to him. Daddy said to me ‘ Kunle, you shook the world. I’m proud of you’ He later encouraged and prayed for me.
I acknowledged Dr. Kunle Adeyemi in my memoir, ATUNBI and I’m excited he will be joining us at the book launch on Sunday.
Thank you for being a great inspiration to me sir. I’m honoured to have passed through your tutelage. I love and celebrate you daddy 💝🙏
