2022 FIFA World Cup Wazobia Secure Rights for Nigeria

2022 FIFA World Cup

Nigeria’s largest private radio group has reached an agreement to broadcast live matches of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

This exclusive broadcast right will see the radio group run live commentaries in English, Pidgin, and Hausa as all 64 scheduled games would be broadcast on Nigeria Info FM and Wazobia FM across the country.

These live matches would also be available in Kano on Cool FM and Arewa Radio, Nigeria Info’s Hausa-speaking sister station.

The Chief Executive Officer of Cool FM, Wazobia FM, Nigeria Info FM, and Arewa Radio, Serge Noujaim described this partnership as one that not only keeps the group’s promise of being the home of the biggest conversations, entertainment, and fun in Nigeria but also one that will further strengthen the love Nigerians have for football.

The radio group’s General Manager of Corporate Communications, Femi Obong-Daniels further reinforced the importance of this partnership.

The World Cup will run from November 20 to December 18 in Qatar.

In August, the radio group secured the rights to broadcast live matches of the 2022/23, 2023/24, and 2024/25 seasons of the English Premier League.

The group has been broadcasting the EPL games with live commentary in English, Pidgin, and Hausa across its network of stations.
